人里離れた山奧に、いぢわるな鬼が棲んでをりました。
この鬼、今しも恋に破れたばかり。たいへん苛々してをりまして。
里に下りては人を騙して、その御魂を喰らふ。
まあさういふ、惡鬼でございました。

もつと人を騙せる術はあるめえか。

さうして鬼は、かう考へたのでございます。

「さうだ。人間の皮で、仮面を作らう」

人喰ふ鬼に、血を吸ふ鬼。
渡る世間に鬼數あれど、此度の鬼はちと違ふ。
なにしろ此奴、噺がうまい。
その饒舌な語りを聽いたが最期、果ては御魂も吸ひ盡くされる。
これぞまさしく、怪談。

腹空かせた鬼が今宵ぶらり。
人騙して魂[たま]喰つてぺろり。
けんども腹は滿足[みた]せず空くばかり。
そんだば、鬼に祕策あり。

村人さ、狩り、狩り。
顰め面、ばり、ばり。
痛えがつても、無理くり。

人間の面をずゐと剥ぎ取り。

化けの皮、手作り。
素晴らしき仕上がり。
これで、俺も仲間入り。

さあて。ぬらりくらり、何處へ往かうか。
浮世の貌[かたち]をぶらさげて。
さうだ。お前を誑かす怪談は、
こんな異端な奇譚にしやう。
さうしませう。

この噺で氣を惹いて、
その魂を碎いて、
この顎で啜る、ずる、ずる、ずる。

そんでも鬼は滿足[みた]せねえ腹ぺこり。
そこへ知らぬ男がひとり。
あはれ見るに忍びなきその身形。

「今夜は腹を滿たせさうだ」

けれども病がちなその男、気を失つて倒れてしまふ。
御魂を喰らはうにも、先づは怪談を聽かせにやあ美味くならない。
しやうがあるめえ、鬼は男を宿に運び込んだのでございます。

聽く耳、持たぬらしい。
遠慮なぞ無し無し。

思し寄らぬお話。

浮世の貌[かたち]で、おい嗤つてんぢやあねえよ。
さうか。俺を誑かす怪談か。

その噺に氣を惹かれ、
この魂をとくと碎かれ、
その顎で啜られる、ずる、ずる。
